Merino wool and silk
Oleana has decided to work with the very best raw materials. Oleana’s main quality is an exclusive soft worsted yarn in a mixture of 25% silk and 75% merino wool. In a worsted yarn the fibers are combed and the fibers are lying more parallel than in a carded yarn. To spin a worsted yarn you need longer fibers and the yarn gets smoother, more shiny and stronger than a carded yarn.
The raw materials, merino wool and silk, makes the yarn soft and delicate. Silk is one of thinnest, most shiny fibers you can find. Merino wool is the thinnest wool fiber next to cashmere. The yarn spun from a mixture of merino wool and silk keeps you warm in cold weather and cool in warm weather. Yarns in these fibers have the ability to absorb moister without feeling wet. Oleana buys the merino/silk yarn from two traditional spinners in North Italy who are suppliers to the most exclusive textile producers in the world.
